Mark Wesley Sigmon is the youngest of ten children of the late Wendell Osborne Sigmon and Elizabeth
Sherrill Sigmon. He is a native of Catawba County and attended Bandys High School where he lettered
in 3 sports all 4 years. After graduating from Bandys High School in 1981, he earned his Bachelor of
Science degree in Industrial Relations and Psychology from the University of North Carolina. At UNC, he
was a scholarship member and letterman on the football team.
After graduating from UNC in 1985, Mark began his banking career. He is currently a Senior Vice
President and Area Executive with Peoples Bank. In addition to his successful banking career, he has
been a member, coach and former President of the Sherrills Ford Optimist, served on the Catawba
County United Way and the United Church Homes and Services board of directors as well as the Carolina
Express and Eastern Catawba County Starz AAU basketball organizations. He was an assistant girl’s
basketball coach at Bandys High School and a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Mark and his wife Brenda have three children. Wesley Sigmon, his wife Lyndsi Little Sigmon, their son
Drew and daughters Addi and Livi, Lindsey Sigmon Martin, her husband Dustin and their daughter
McKinleigh and son Maddux and daughter Nicole Sigmon Brittain, her husband Justin and their son
Brady. Wesley and Lyndis also have a deceased son Luke Wesley Sigmon that passed away on March
31 st , 2015 at the age of six.
Mark Sigmon has been involved in many organizations and community activities in the past, but none
mean as much to him as the Hearts and Hope Foundation. He along with this son Wesley and the other
Hearts and Hope board members formed this foundation in order to give back to the community and
help children and families that are in need. This organization was formed in honor of Luke Wesley
Sigmon and it now continues in his memory.
