Mark Wesley Sigmon is the youngest of the ten children of the late Wendell Osborne Sigmon and Elizabeth Sherrill Sigmon. He is a native of Catawba County and attended Bandys High School where he lettered in 3 sports all 4 years. After graduating from Bandys High School in 1981, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Relations and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC, he was a scholarship member and letterman on the football team.
After graduating from UNC in 1985, Mark began his 30 + year banking career. He is currently a Senior Vice President and Area Executive for Peoples Bank. In addition to his successful banking career, he has been a member, coach and former president of the Sherrills Ford Optimist, served on the Catawba County United Way board as well as the Carolina Express and Eastern Catawba County Starz AAU basketball organization boards. He is currently serving on the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce and United Church Homes and Services Board of directors. He is also a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Mark and his wife Brenda have three children and three grandchildren and they all reside in Denver, NC. F. Wesley Sigmon, his wife Lyndsi Little Sigmon, their son Drew and daughter Addi, Lindsey Sigmon Martin, her husband Dustin Lee Martin and their daughter McKinleigh Grae and daughter Nicole Elizabeth Sigmon. Wesley and Lyndsi also have a deceased son Luke Wesley Sigmon that passed away on March 31st, 2015 at the age of six.
Mark Sigmon has been involved in many organizations and community activities in the past, but none means as much to him as the Hearts and Hope Foundation. He along with his son Wesley and the other Hearts and Hope board members formed this foundation in order to give back to the community and help children and family that are in need. This organization was formed in honor of Luke Wesley Sigmon and it now continues in his memory.
